Origen of Alexandria (c. 184–253 AD) was one of the most prolific and influential early Christian scholars and theologians. A student of Clement of Alexandria, he produced an enormous body of work including biblical commentaries, theological treatises, and the Hexapla (a six-column comparison of Old Testament texts). His allegorical interpretation of Scripture and systematic theology profoundly shaped Christian thought, though some of his speculative ideas were later deemed controversial. Despite facing persecution and torture during the Decian persecution, Origen remained devoted to scholarship and teaching until his death.
